After several days of impatience and expectation, pupils of Real Oviedo English today enjoyed a visit from Ibra and Tejera, with whom they practised their English skills during a very special class. Amidst huge excitement for the visit of their idols, the little ones askedthe players all types of questions, had their photos taken with them, asked for autographs, and some even presented the players with drawings which they had prepared for them.  And, of course, they did it all in English.
The Escuela Real Oviedo this season began to offer families of its members the possibility for the young footballers to study English in classrooms at the Fundoma facilities; the same place where the children train. The classes take place immediately before or after the children's training sessions, according to what fits best, with the aim of reducing journeys for the family members or guardians responsible for taking the youngsters to and from the Escuela.
The English lessons see reduced-sized groups receive class from a native, qualified teacher, who has experience teaching children.  Each pupil receives a progress report at the end of each term, as well as a diploma at the end of the academic year. Another of the activities recently carried out by Real Oviedo English saw the pupils receive a guided tour of the Carlos Tartiere stadium in English, where students visited the club's museum, first-team changing rooms, Press Room, Mixed Zone and the field of play. Real Oviedo English fits within the club's clear commitment to not only train footballers, but also to contribute towards their formation as a person, providing values and education to our youth-team players.
Since the English academy was introduced, our youth-team players have had the opportunity to reinforce the English learning they do at school, while those who had not previously studied the language have had the chance to start from scratch. Escuela Real Oviedo, which came to life in the 2018-19 school year, began its second season in September.  This year it has 145 participants; twice as many as the previous year.
