Real Oviedo Head Coach Javi Rozada today appeared in the Press Room at El Requexón.

Following his step up to the first team, the Oviedo-born coach commented that “I’ve not had time to take it in. There’s a match tomorrow and we’ve got to work. I feel the responsibility. This club is important for many
people and has history. We have to connect with the fans. I want people to identify with the team. We are going to work towards getting a lot of people going to the Tartiere and making them proud.” In addition,
regarding how he came to coach Real Oviedo, he said “Joaquín (del Olmo) called me, asked me to go to the ground, and told me about the situation. We reached an agreement, and here I am. The club has told me that they see doubts in the players and poor form, and they want me to get the most out of them. I’m going to help so that the team can push on. I am excited and hungry to get through this situation.”

Asked for his views on the squad, Rozada admitted that “the squad was hurting. Sergio (Egea) was an exceptional person, he’s treated us well, and I am here for him. They feel responsibility, but we are helping them to rally around, change their mindsets and realise that we need to keep moving forward. We will put our stamp on the team, but we are going to focus on being a brave and ambitious team with a winning mentality. That’s what I want to transmit to the team for tomorrow.”

With respect to what the coaching staff has been working on ahead of the Extremadura match, the Coach highlighted that “we have been focusing on emotional matters. I reminded them that they fought for a playoff place
right to the end last season. We have a great team and I am convinced that when they restore their self-belief then they will show what they are capable of.”

Finally, regarding his feelings on a personal level, Javi Rozada concluded by commenting that “I am taking it in the same way as last season. This is professional football, but it’s still football. We will build our identity day by day, and that’s what I’ll be focusing on.”
