The Press Room at El Requexón today provided the backdrop as Gastón Brugman was presented with the award for December's 'Jugador Cinco Estrellas'. The Uruguayan is a key part of Ziganda's midfield, contributing work, muscle and attacking threat, and has now been recognised by the fans of Los Azules. The supporters selected between the five players nominated by the beer company on their Twitter profile @futbolmahou.
As is the norm each month, the player then answered questions put to him by Oviedistas on our official social media profiles:
What does it mean to you to receive this award?
- I'm grateful. A lot of this is due to the team, we've done a great job. It's individual recognition, but it's thanks to what the team has done.
Do you prefer La Liga or the Italian league?
- They are two different styles. Both of them have their own little things which make them nice.
With regards to the fans, what differences do you see between Spain and Italy?
- My final year in Italy was during the pandemic, and the fans weren't going to football much because of Covid. The fans in Pescara are similar to here in that the city lives for football. They are lively, and there's not a lot of difference.
How much money does each fan have to put in for you to stay here?
- We'll have to talk to Parma, but we are going to do everything possible for me to stay.
Do you like fabada and cider?
- I prefer fabada. We don't have it in Uruguay, but we do make dishes similar to this type of food.
Which forwards from your country who haven't yet made the step over to Europe would you recommend to Real Oviedo?
- There's a player at Peñarol, Agustín Álvarez, who is the top scorer in the league and a player who could make a big difference.
