Real Oviedo striker, Joselu, appeared in the Press Room this morning, following the team’s training session at El Requexón.

The forward admits that it would be “impossible” to have a worse match forhis first start, but argues that, “we didn’t play so badly so as to deserve that. They scored from all of their chances, while we couldn’t convert the
chances we made.”

Joselu explained that, “we didn’t know how to counteract their system and everything went badly for us. We had chances to score in the second half and get ourselves back in the game, but then they scored their third just afterwards. Today is a difficult day because it’s tough to digest a defeat like that, but we have another opportunity on Tuesday. We have another game and we’ll go into it with the bit between our teeth because we want to bounce back and forget about yesterday. I hope we can play well and go through to the next round.”

With respect to how soon the Copa del Rey clash is, Joselu stated that, “we want it to be here now and to have another opportunity. When you’ve lost you want to play again as soon as possible.”

Asked about the fans’ reaction and the support they showed the team at full-time, despite the heavy defeat, the forward declared his surprise, saying “I’ve been in football for many years and I’d never seen anything like that. It amazed me. I want to thank them on behalf of the squad. We owe them now, and I hope we can repay them,” he concluded.
