Winning and knowing how to suffer at the Alfonso Murube

Real Oviedo secures its second consecutive victory after defeating AD Ceuta FC in a match where goals from Samu Rodríguez and Carlos Domínguez allowed the blues to claim three valuable points.

Real Oviedo faced a new LALIGA Hypermotion match this Sunday, visiting AD Ceuta FC for the first time in its history. The match, corresponding to the tenth round of the championship and starting at 2:00 PM at the Estadio Alfonso Murube, also marked the 1,500th game for the team from the capital of the Principality in the Second Division. A special occasion in which the blues were accompanied by about fifty Oviedo fans who traveled to Ceuta.

Before the kickoff, a respectful minute of silence was observed in memory of a fan and a former board member of AD Ceuta FC.

For this match, Julián Calero opted to repeat the same starting eleven that had secured victory against SD Eibar at the Carlos Tartiere. Aarón Escandell was in goal, with Samu Rodríguez and David Jiménez as full-backs, and Carlos Domínguez and Dani Calvo, who reached 200 official matches wearing the Real Oviedo jersey, in the center of defense. Alberto Reina, Youness, and Aldasoro formed the midfield, while Enzo Pérez and Goti occupied the wings, with Víctor Mingo as the offensive reference. The match also marked the return to Ceuta for Youness and Alberto Reina, as well as Aisar, who ultimately could not be included in the squad due to illness.

From the start, Real Oviedo showed their intention to take control of the match. Julián Calero's men dominated possession, sought to settle in the opponent's half, and tried to break through the Ceuta lines with quick transitions and combinations. As a result of this strong start, the first clear chance of the game came in the sixth minute. After a series of deflections in the box, the ball fell to Víctor Mingo, who attempted to beat Pedro López with a precise shot. However, the local goalkeeper made a great save to deflect the ball for a corner and prevent the first goal for the blues.

As the minutes passed, AD Ceuta FC tried to step up and challenge Oviedo's possession, though they failed to create any danger for Aarón Escandell's goal. The blues continued to look for spaces in the opponent's half, and their persistence led to two quick yellow cards for the home team. Petxarroman was booked in the 20th minute, followed by Marino in the 21st minute for fouls near their area.

From the second of these fouls came the first goal of the match. In the 22nd minute, Real Oviedo executed a free kick from the side of the area with a pass back to the edge of the box, where Samu Rodríguez connected a powerful shot that beat Pedro López and made it 0-1 on the scoreboard at the Alfonso Murube.

Far from settling for the lead, Julián Calero's team continued to press for another goal. After a yellow card for David Jiménez in the 24th minute, the blues came close to scoring again just a minute later. A well-executed team play down the wing, initiated by Samu Rodríguez, ended with the ball in the box and a shot from Goti that nearly became Oviedo's second goal. The forward fell after the shot, impeded by a local player, in an action where the blues players appealed for a penalty, but the referee allowed play to continue.

From that point on, both teams alternated possession phases, though Real Oviedo continued to show greater offensive intent. The Carbayón team remained solid defensively, closing down spaces and preventing Ceuta from advancing comfortably beyond the final third.

In the 42nd minute, Escobar received another yellow card for the home team. In the final moments of the first half, the game was marked by clashes between the two teams, including a collision between Samu Rodríguez and Sevikyan that required medical attention for both players.

With no further dangerous chances, the match reached halftime with Real Oviedo leading 1-0 thanks to Samu Rodríguez's goal, capping off a solid and confident first half for Julián Calero's side.

After the break, Julián Calero kept the same eleven players on the field, while the home team made their first substitution, bringing on Redru for Petxarroman.

The second half began with AD Ceuta FC, compelled by the scoreline, stepping up and creating more frequent threats in Aarón Escandell's area. In the 52nd minute, the referee awarded a penalty to the home team after Koné fell in the box during a challenge with David Jiménez. However, after being alerted and reviewing the play on VAR, the referee overturned his initial decision and canceled the penalty.

The Ceuta team continued to push, and four minutes later, Aarón Escandell made a great save against a shot from inside the box to maintain Oviedo's lead. In the 58th minute, Julián Calero made his first substitutions, bringing on Morales, Pablo Sáenz, and Nacho Vidal for Víctor Mingo, Alberto Reina, and David Jiménez.

The changes quickly paid off. In the 60th minute, a free kick taken by Goti from near the byline found Morales at the far post. The forward chested the ball, Pedro López managed to block it, but Carlos Domínguez was quick to react and sent the rebound into the net, making it 0-2 at the Alfonso Murube.

Far from being satisfied with the lead, Real Oviedo continued to seek to extend their advantage. Just two minutes later, a good run by Nacho Vidal down the wing ended with a cross into the box that Morales nearly converted into the third goal of the afternoon. Enzo Pérez, Nacho Vidal, and Samu Rodríguez also had attempts in the following minutes, during a period when the blues found spaces to exploit the home team's defense.

In the 70th minute, Ceuta brought on Camacho and Sadik for Sevikyan and Koné, while three minutes later, Julián Calero introduced Jacobo to refresh Oviedo's attack.

As time went on, the home team pushed forward in search of a goal to get back into the game. Real Oviedo, on the other hand, tried to capitalize on the spaces left by Ceuta in their attempt to close the gap, aiming to seal the match with quick transitions.

Ceuta's persistence paid off in the 83rd minute. After a series of three consecutive corner kicks, the home team capitalized on a series of deflections in the box to send the ball into the net and make it 1-2, tightening the scoreline for the final minutes.

The goal energized the Ceuta team, which, spurred on by their fans, increased their presence in the attacking half in search of an equalizer. Zalazar received a yellow card in the 90th minute, and the referee added seven minutes of stoppage time, during which Real Oviedo had to work hard to defend their lead. During injury time, Aritz Aldasoro and Carlos Domínguez were also booked, with the latter receiving his fifth yellow card, meaning he will miss the next league match due to suspension.

Despite the home team's late push, Julián Calero's men held firm and maintained their lead until the final whistle, securing a hard-fought away victory that ensures the three points return to Asturias.

Real Oviedo thus records another win in LALIGA Hypermotion, their second consecutive victory following the triumph against SD Eibar, and now turns their attention to their next league match, where they will once again play away from the Carlos Tartiere to face UD Almería.
