Real Oviedo Head Coach, Juan Antonio Anquela, today appeared in the Press Room at El Requexón.

As in the build-up to every match, the Coach began by offering an update on the players who haven’t trained with the group this week, saying, “I think they’re ok. We will wait and see whether they complete another training session tomorrow. We hope they’ll be available for Sunday.” In addition, regarding Carlos Martínez, Anquela said that, “he was ready to play and training great, but that’s football. We have to take each week as it comes.”

Ahead of the match at Santo Domingo, the Coach commented that, “Alcorcón play very good football. I think they’re the best team I’ve seen so far. They have a balanced side, who are up towards the top on their own merits. I know we’ve been doing well away from home and I hope that we will be able to keep that going for a long time.”

Asked about possible changes to the starting eleven, the Coach stated that, “we’re not going to be stubborn. We will make changes if we see fit. We’ve built a small and versatile squad.”

Finally, the Real Oviedo Coach responded to a question which asked about a possible questioning of his work. He said, “nobody has ever gifted me anything and when I have to leave here I’ll do so through the front door. Everything I’ve achieved has been done the hard way and with honour. I’m not going to change the way I work at all. I will defend my job with tooth and nail. I’ve taken this team to my heart, as is my philosophy. I see things clearly; nobody has gifted me anything, I’ve earned it year by year with hammer and tongs, looking the world in the eye. That’s all there is to it. The only thing that could force me out are results, but my work never will. I’m dedicated to my beloved Real Oviedo and if they were to ask me to leave then no problem. Everybody is questioned here but I’m only worried about my lads, and they’re not ever going to let me down. We’re going to go there to compete, with excitement and desire,” he concluded.
