Real Oviedo goalkeeper Alfonso Herrero made an appearance for the media in the press room at El Requexón.
After the renewal of his contract through 2020, the Toledan stated that, “For me it was really important to know that they trust me. I’m really excited about what’s coming, and I’d like to thank the people for their kindness.”
On the work that he is doing with Real Oviedo during the preseason, Alfonso Herrera assured that, “the team is prepared, with players that want to have the ball. The preseason is helping us to get rhythm, it’s good.” In addition, regarding the competition for the goalkeeper position, the goalie believes that, “We’re in the preseason and I can’t say who’s going to play. Nereo is a great teammate, a good player. We have a healthy rivalry and we’ll work hard to make it difficult for the gaffer. I don’t make the lineups. The only thing that matters is the work.”
On the importance of knowing his teammates after a summer transfer market without many new faces in the defence, Alfonso highlighted that, “I know them all well, it’s easy for us to understand each other. Communication is important for this season.”
Finally, regarding the level of competition of the division, the goalkeeper stated that, “This year is going to be complicated. There are great and renowned teams. We’re Real Oviedo and we’re going to fight for everything,” the Toledan concluded.
