In what was probably their most complete performance of preseason, Real Oviedo were crowned winner of the 30th edition of the Trofeo Villa de Foz. They won the match on penalties and bid farewell to preseason with a sweet taste in their mouth after the game against RC Deportivo de la Coruña.

Anquela was forced into an early change to his starting eleven after an injury to Johannesson. The youth-academy product was forced off after just three minutes of the match, with Sandoval taking his place on the right wing. Real Oviedo dominated the ball and were dangerous in attack. A powerful shot from Saúl Berjón struck the post ten minutes into the encounter. Deportivo responded with a low shot that called Champagne into
action. Tejera fired just over the bar from the edge of the box after a fine, hard-fought move from Real Oviedo. A handball inside the box gave Toché the chance to open the scoring from the penalty spot on the stroke of halftime, but Ortolá saved his effort. The teams headed in at halftime with the score 0-0.

Christian Fernández headed over from a set piece at the start of the second half, before Mossa shot just wide of the far post from the left wing. Dépor then opened the scoring. Domingos Duarte controlled a cross from the wing before nudging the ball in from the right. Saúl Berjón responded with a powerful free kick, which again struck the woodwork. Ibra came on for Toché and scored the equaliser after some fine play from Javi Muñoz. Muñoz worked the ball out to the right for Carlos Martínez, whose cross was headed home by Ibra. Real Oviedo’s play improved further following the goal, despite Edu Cortina receiving a harsh straight red card. The final minutes passed without incident ahead of the penalty shootout.

Champagne proved the key man during the shootout, as he kept out the first few attempts from Dépor. Real Oviedo didn’t miss any of theirs, and were proclaimed champions in their final match of the preseason after Javi Muñoz, Borja Sánchez, Steven and Boateng converted from the spot.
