At Christmas 2025, in a season marked by the return to the First Division and the celebration of our centenary on March 26, the Club wanted to pause, look back, and return to its roots. To where everything is real. To where it all began.
Players, staff, and members of the Club and Foundation visited four Asturian villages with fewer than fifty inhabitants, scattered across the geography of the Principality. A simple and sincere tribute to the most authentic Asturias: one of a slower pace of life, living traditions, humility, and the silent work that builds home and community.
The origin of everything
In a year of great sporting achievements and maximum exposure, Real Oviedo wanted to reconnect with the essentials. Because when important goals are achieved, it is also necessary to remember where you come from. These small villages represent the origin, the daily effort, and the values that have accompanied the Club throughout a century of life: courage, humility, sacrifice, and pride of belonging.
The initiative, accompanied by the delivery of Oviedo-themed gifts and close encounters with the local residents, was a way to give thanks, look them in the eye, and embrace — even in solitude — those who keep the essence of our land alive. A gesture of recognition to those who, through silence and perseverance, are also part of the Oviedo family.
In this way, the four magical places chosen were Aciera, Taramundi, Bandujo / Banduxu, and Camarmeña. Four villages in the east and west, four ways of life tied to the mountains or bathed by the tradition of water mills. Four wonderful places that reflect the Asturias we admire, and that the world has discovered. In an official Club van, with round trips after training sessions, over four days players, Foundation members, and Club staff volunteered for an initiative that gives us much more than we give: affection, strength, and gratitude. In all the villages, there was blue color and the Oviedo crest. And also, a memory, in the form of a proclamation, that we left pinned in each of them.
Returning to keep moving forward
The return to the First Division and the Centenary season not only speak of what has been achieved but also of the journey taken. Of how it was reached, where it came back from, and, above all, with whom. Because one hundred years of history cannot be understood without Asturias, its people, and that shared feeling that connects the Club with every corner of the region.
The message of this Christmas, after returning to the roots, is clear: we must never stop fighting, but we must also never forget our roots. Our people. Because there, in the deepest part, lies the answer to everything.
From the heart of Asturias, Real Oviedo wishes the Oviedo family a Merry Christmas and thanks those who, generation after generation, have made it possible for there to be a story to celebrate today.
