Victory in Hostile Territory

A Yoel Bárcenas brace and a Borja Sánchez goal gave Real Oviedo a 3-1 away win and their first victory at the Santo Domingo

Past experiences earmarked Santo Domingo as a hostile ground for Real Oviedo, given that they had never previously won there.  There is a first time for everything, however, and Javi Rozada's side proved that point in little more than 15 minutes.
In the 13th minute a VAR review meant that Borja Sánchez's previously-disallowed goal gave Real Oviedo a 1-0 lead and provided a foothold in the match.  Two minutes later, Yoel Bárcenas extended the lead to 2-0 from a fine Ortuño pass, putting Rozada's team firmly in control. Former Real Oviedo player Boateng cut the lead to 2-1, but the Asturians defended well up until halftime, as Alcorcón searched for an equaliser.
Rozada made some tactical tweaks at halftime and Real Oviedo managed to blunt the hosts' threat.  While Los Azules didn't create too muchthemselves, equally they didn't concede many chances.  Real Oviedo did keep trying to create danger on the counterattack, and Yoel Bárcenas sealed a 3-1 win with a fine goal, after an excellent assist from Juanjo Nieto. Victory brought great joy to the more-than 500 travelling Oviedistas in attendance at the Santo Domingo.
