Real Oviedo found a way to battle to a hard-fought win from their visit to the Artés Carrasco. Juan Antonio Anquela made only one change to the line-up from the last match, with Yeboah coming in for the injured Aarón Ñíguez.

The Asturian side began the match very strongly and their early chances were dangerous ones. Barely five minutes into the game, Linares was just unable to bring a long ball under control, as he moved through one-on-one with Dorronsoro. The first Real Oviedo goal arrived in the thirteenth mminute. Saúl Berjón’s corner found Rocha on the edge of the box, and the midfielder’s strong shot flew into the back of the net. This goal made the score 1-0, and the away side didn’t have to wait long to double their lead. A cross from the left wing, again swung in by Saúl Berjón, found Real Oviedo captain, Miguel Linares, who converted to make the score 2-0 and provide Los Azules with extra breathing space. Before the break, Saúl tried his own luck from range, with the opposition goalkeeper off his line, but the shot went wide as he was knocked off balance.

Lorca pushed forward more in the second half, but they didn’t trouble the Real Oviedo defence too greatly. The away team’s pressing game continued to pay dividends, and Yeboah made the most of winning the ball in the centre of the pitch to lift the ball over Dorronsoro, but the goalkeeper got back in time to keep the ball out. Linares then had a chance to make it 3-0 from a counter attack. He managed to beat Dorronsoro, but then took too heavy a touch and the defence was able to get back and clear. The final clear chance for Anquela’s side fell to Christian Fernández, but his header was denied by the Lorca goalkeeper. Alfonso had to intervene to keep out a low shot from the ex-Oviedista Nando in the final stages of the
match, as Lorca surged forward in attack. Anquela made use of his options on the bench, with Viti returning to action as he replaced Saúl Berjón. Cotugno and Hidi also came on to freshen the team up and protect the 2-0
lead. The final result means that Real Oviedo have moved into the playoff places as it stands.

The team will return by bus to Oviedo and the next training session will be on Tuesday, from 17:00, at El Requexón.
