Real Oviedo falls at the Tartiere against UD Las Palmas

The blues, who were losing 0-3 after a poor first half, narrowed the gap with two goals in the second half, scored by Carlos Domínguez and Mikel Goti, but it was not enough.

Real Oviedo suffered another defeat after losing 2-3 to UD Las Palmas at the Carlos Tartiere, in the match corresponding to the twelfth round of the championship. The blues, heavily outplayed during the first half, found themselves three goals down on the scoreboard but staged a late reaction that came close to changing the outcome of the match. However, the effort in the final minutes was not enough to salvage a positive result.

The Canary Islands team took to the Tartiere pitch with a very clear game plan and soon took control of the match. Las Palmas dominated possession, found spaces, and managed to impose their rhythm against a Real Oviedo side that struggled to find their footing on the field. The visitors capitalized on their strong momentum to score twice and went into halftime with a 0-2 lead.

After the restart, coach Julián Calero decided to make a triple substitution in search of an immediate reaction. Estanis, Morales, and Jacobo came onto the field, replacing Mingo, Nacho Vidal, and Aldasoro, in an attempt to bring new solutions and change the dynamics of a match that had become very challenging.

However, the first blow of the second half once again came from the visiting team. Las Palmas found the back of the net again and made it 0-3, leaving Real Oviedo facing a very steep uphill battle.

Despite the tough scenario, the blues did not give up. In the 62nd minute, the Carbayón team was rewarded for their persistence with a goal from Carlos Domínguez, making it 1-3 on the scoreboard and giving new energy to the team and the crowd at the Carlos Tartiere. From that moment on, the match changed. Oviedo stepped up, began to create more chances, and launched themselves decisively in search of a comeback that, until then, had seemed very distant. Las Palmas, on the other hand, retreated to protect their lead and tried to close the spaces against the home side's push.

The blues then found their best moments of the match. With more intensity, offensive presence, and determination, they began to create danger and believe in their chances. The Tartiere crowd also rallied, aware that the team was finally finding a way to fully get back into the game.

Oviedo's reaction continued in the 82nd minute when Goti scored a stunning free-kick goal to make it 2-3. A spectacular strike that reduced the deficit to just one goal and brought all the excitement back to the match in its final moments. With the score so close, Real Oviedo threw everything forward in search of an equalizer and had chances to make it 3-3, but the result remained unchanged.

The setback is another blow for the Carbayones, who suffer another defeat following their loss last Thursday in the Copa del Rey against Numancia.
