Spencer Owen and Real Oviedo began their mutual love story several seasons ago. During the 2014-15 season, the famous English “Youtuber” travelled to the Carlos Tartiere for the playoff match against Cádiz. He described, in first person and to all of his followers, the incredible experience of the home leg of the playoffs, which would eventually end with our return to the Segunda División.
Later, during the share campaign which would see us manage to attract shareholders from across almost the entire planet, Spencer appeared on his channel to explain how to become a shareholder of Grupo Carso’s team, through Paypal, and for little more than 10 dollars. Thanks to the size of his channel, many English shareholders joined the cause and Real Oviedo became even better known in the United Kingdom. From that point onwards, the club has received many visits from English youngsters who know of the club thanks to the huge presence of the British Youtuber’s channel.
Last weekend (18th/19th November), Spencer Owen returned to Oviedo with Hashtag United, in an event organised in cooperation with LaLiga, and thanks to which his team had the opportunity to play a match against a Real Oviedo staff team. Hashtag United chose Oviedo as a destination to visit in Spain as part of the HTULaLigaTour, and the club was extremely grateful for this new show of affection towards our club.
In the past few days, the Hashtag United official Youtube channel has published videos both of their experience in Oviedo and of the match itself, which took place at El Requexón training ground. First team players, Linares, Rocha and Mariga visited the Hashtag United changing room to encourage them prior to the fixture.
