Real Oviedo midfielder, Sergio Tejera, appeared in the Press Room this morning following the team’s training session at El Requexón.

The Catalan began by evaluating the state of the team following the victory, saying “we needed it after recent matches. We are very happy and hope it helps us to grow. We were much more clinical in attack. We had been playing well and creating chances, but we hadn’t been able to finish them off. They went in the other day. We were good from set pieces, which is very important, and we got the win.”

Asked to elaborate on the importance of set plays, Tejera highlighted that, “it’s an area that the Coach places a lot of emphasis on and we’re happy that they went well. We are calm, just like we were before going to Soria. We are taking it a game at a time and only thinking about Tenerife now.”

Regarding his position on the pitch and changes in formation, the Catalan explained that, “I’m happy wherever the Coach wants to put me and will help wherever that may be. He asks the midfield for a lot of work in this formation with two centre midfielders. We have to be together and organised, and help both in attack and in defence.”

Tejera believes that a victory such as that earned in Soria, “will be greatfor us to look forward with confidence. We are training very well, just as we had been up until now. I hope the win will help us get another in front of our fans, because they deserve it.” The midfielder said that Tenerife are “built to fight for a place towards the top”, despite them not having a good first half of the season. He concluded by saying that, “we will approach the match with the utmost professionalism.”
