Real Oviedo continue to win matches in 2019, today earning their first home victory of the new year at the Carlos Tartiere.

The team suffered another setback in the warm-up, with Viti getting injured this time. Omar Ramos replaced him in the starting eleven. Real Oviedo dominated from the outset, as they played with great intensity and controlled the match. They were getting into the box consistently, and Omar Ramos struck the bar inside the first ten minutes. His shot from the edge of the box was deflected off a defender and onto the woodwork. Yoel Bárcenas had a go from a free kick, but his effort went just wide. However, he soon got it right with a ‘golazo’, firing home from the edge of the box to open the scoring. Omar Ramos got injured shortly afterwards. Mossa came on and took up Bárcenas’ place on the left wing, with the Panamanian switching to the right.

Real Oviedo recovered their intensity after the break, but they found it more difficult to get forward. Carlos Hernández headed just over from a free kick, but the home side found it difficult to get shots in. The match opened up as Tenerife made use of their pace, but they didn’t cause Champagne too much discomfort. Several crosses into the box were cleared by the away defence. Real Oviedo continued to try to extend their lead, as demonstrated when two attempts were blocked during the same passage of play. Johannesson had the best effort in added time after working down the right and cutting inside, but he was denied by the away keeper.

This was another important triumph for Anquela’s side. The team will now rest until Tuesday, when they will return to training at El Requexón.
