Real Oviedo Head Coach, Juan Antonio Anquela, today appeared in the Press Room at El Requexón.

As has become the norm, the Coach began by giving an injury update ahead of this Saturday’s match, saying that “we’ve got Saúl (Berjón), Ibra and Juan (Forlín) out. The rest of the players are all fine.”

Following last weekend’s victory against Numancia, the Coach admitted that, “it settled us down. Playing in Soria isn’t easy, particularly with how the game went. It has to have made us stronger.”

Asked about Joselu possibly coming into the starting eleven, the ‘Carbayón’ Coach reasoned that, “it could be an option, but I’m not unhappy with those who’ve been starting. We have options, and whoever plays will do well.” In addition, regarding the options given by the attackers, Anquela believes that, “they’re all different. One has some characteristics, and another has different ones. I’d like to see Joselu as a deeper striker. Now it’s time to get stronger and keep growing.”

Ahead of this weekend’s match against Tenerife, the Coach admitted that, “you have to look and remember things. Tenerife are a team built to be up there, but they’re talking about getting out of danger. Tenerife had great teams when they dropped into Segunda B and when they played in the UEFA Cup... we’re in the Segunda, and you have to be aware of that.” In addition, regarding his expectations for the team from the Canary Islands this weekend, Anquela highlighted that, “you only have to look at the names. They have great footballers. Tenerife is a great club with a fantastic history. Everyone wants to go up, but it’s very tight. We have to get the points and then move on.”

Asked whether victory over Tenerife would change things for the team moving forward in the season, the Coach stated that, “winning would give us three more points and calm us down. We all want more, but we have to follow a certain path, and we do that by winning. We have to produce the same level as the team has been doing.”

Finally, with respect to the number of goals scored by defenders in the last match, the Coach said that, “I’d like the forwards to score the goals, but it’s all about winning here. We want to win,” he concluded.
