Real Oviedo attacker, Saúl Berjón, appeared in the Press Room at El Requexón today.
The Asturian began by evaluating today’s training session, which was marked by the heavy rain falling at El Requexón. “It was a typical Asturian day. I’m used to it! It was a good workout against the lads from the B team, and we hope that it will help us going into the weekend.” In addition, talking about how the team’s week has been following the victory over CD Numancia, Saúl Berjón believes that, “we train differently after a victory. We are always happier. We have to carry the good feeling from the Carlos Tartiere away from home. We’ve shown that we are capable of playing well and winning, and we need to continue along these lines.”
Asked about the injury absentees and how it affects the team going into the Lorca clash, the attacker declared that, “we are ready. The team has shown that whoever comes in can perform just as well as the player he is replacing. We must keep going like this.”
With respect to his feelings on an individual level as one of the team’s top scorers, the Asturian admitted that, “the statistics are good, but I’d be happy to have scored less goals and have more points. It doesn’t matter who gets the assists and goals, as long as we win in Lorca. I am willing to take on the responsibility; I enjoy it. We are going through a good spell, giving everything, and adding points. The Coach is picking me, and I have responsibilities in the team.” Furthermore, regarding what Juan Antonio Anquela demands of him each game, Saúl commented that, “the Coach is how he is. He is demanding all day long, and I love it. I hope that these demands bear their fruit.”
The Oviedista doesn’t see the team’s league position as too important at this stage. “The division is crazy, it’s very funny. It’s great if you a neutral watching the games, as there are no favourites. We are two points off the playoffs. We are in the mix, and now we have to win matches to move higher up the league. We are doing things well, and competing”. The Christmas break is on its way, but there are still a few games remaining beforehand. Saúl recognised that, “the higher we are in the table, the better. We have to pick up points to reach Christmas in a good state,” he concluded.
