Real Oviedo made their debut this Saturday in front of their fans in the first preseason friendly held at the Carlos Tartiere. After several weeks of work, the team led by Julián Calero faced Real Club Deportivo De La Coruña in a match that served to gain rhythm and continue testing things ahead of the league start.
Miguel Narváez, Samu, Dani Calvo, David Costas, Nacho Vidal, Aldasoro, Reina, Youness, Chaira, Pablo Sáenz, and Isfan were the eleven chosen by the blue coach for this match. From the initial whistle, equality prevailed, although possession was largely in favor of the Galician team. Two good saves by Narváez prevented the Coruña goal, while Oviedo struggled to create dangerous chances on the opponent's goal.
When the match was approaching halftime, Ilyas Chaira had to be substituted after a collision with a Galician defender. Undoubtedly, the worst news for a first half that ended in a goalless draw.
After the restart, and following Jacobo's entry for Ilyas, Víctor Mingo and Aisar also got minutes. Aldasoro, with a powerful shot from outside the box, had the clearest chance, but his strike hit the crossbar.
By the 75th minute, Calero brought on the rest of the called-up players, and the lineup consisted of Narváez, Marco Esteban, Eze, Aisar, Berzal, Youness, Enzo, Cardero, Agudín, Diego Menéndez, and Víctor Mingo. In the final minutes, there were barely any goal-scoring opportunities, and the match ended in a goalless draw.
Next friendly match: Wednesday against SD Ponferradina in the Vega de Anzo Trophy.
