The Supporters' Weekend Brings Luck to Real Oviedo Once More

Our international shareholders were able to enjoy their adopted team's victory, in a story described by SkySports as "inspiring"

This weekend, coinciding with the encounter with Eibar, another edition of the Supporters' Weekend took place, with the club welcoming some of its international shareholders to Oviedo. This was the second consecutive edition, with last year's attendees having enjoyed three days full of activities and Oviedismo, including Real Oviedo's victory against Mirandés on 26th November 2022.

This year's participants travelled from around the globe: the UK, Ireland, Sweden, China, and the USA, but they all had something in common, which was the desire to either visit for the first time or to once again see up close the club that they have decided to follow and love from afar. It is a story which, when combined with Santi Cazorla's return home, caught the interest of Adam Bate, Feature Writer for Sky Sports Football, who didn't want to miss the opportunity to see what is behind this movement first-hand, one which he described to Real Oviedo TV as an "inspiring story".

These were three days in which Chris, Rachel, Alexandra, Daniel, Yu, Marty, Andy, Tony, Karen, Stephen and Colin got to see El Requexón, Tensi, Fundoma, the Carlos Tartiere, the Museum, and the Real Oviedo Foundation's projects. However, while the club was the key part of the weekend, they also enjoyed a full Asturian experience, visiting Cangas de Onís, Covadonga, El Fitu and seeing how cider is made, before spending pre-match with the Real Oviedo fans, and then making their way to watch the pre-match warm-up from the touchline. They were able to meet players like Cazorla in person, before witnessing the Real Oviedo victory from the stands.

We have a moral duty to the Proud of You spirit, born in November 2012, and weekends like these demonstrate to us once more that those who one day took an interest in what was happening to our club are still pushing us on strongly, because the story still transcends borders and distances. We are sure that the Real Oviedo Foundation's eternal captain Pelayo Novo, from where he is resting, will feel proud that his club is maintaining an initiative which he played a key part in restoring in 2022.
