The Carlos Tartiere Stadium hosted today, May 19, at 1:30 p.m., the presentation of the commemorative stamp ‘Centenary Football Teams,’ a release by Correos included in the ‘Sports’ series, which pays tribute to historic Spanish football on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Real Oviedo.
The Club, founded on March 26, 1926, through the merger of Real Stadium Club Ovetense (1914) and Real Club Deportivo de Oviedo (1919), became in 1933 the first team from Asturias to be promoted to the First Division. Throughout its history, Real Oviedo has been an example of perseverance and resilience, currently boasting more than 26,000 members and thousands of supporters across Spain and the world.
The release also recognizes other centenary clubs such as Rayo Vallecano de Madrid, RC Celta de Vigo, and Real Murcia C.F.
During the event, the traditional honorary postmarking was carried out by the head of historical heritage of Real Oviedo, Miguel Sanz, and the director of Philately and Institutional Relations of Correos, Nuria Lera Hervás.
The stamp, in a block sheet format, has a face value of 4 euros and a print run of 65,000 copies, and is part of Correos' tribute to the legacy of historic football clubs.
