Real Oviedo midfielder Edu Cortina today appeared in the Press Room at El Requexón.
Having taken part in recovery work for the past two weeks after suffering some discomfort, the Asturian declared that “I’m feeling better each day. It’s true that I’ve been out for a couple of weeks. There was a heavy workload, and the best thing to do was to stop in order to do some more specific work.”
Regarding his integration into the first team, Edu commented that “I’d been around the first team before and knew how it worked. We know what it means to be a professional. For those of us that are from here and that are Real Oviedo fans it’s a dream. The policy is right, but now we have to prove that it’s right.”
Asked about the competition for places in midfield, the local lad reasoned that, “competition is a good thing, but we know one another. They are three very good footballers. The four of us understand each other. I knew Lolo and Jimmy from playing with them in the B team, while Tejera is an incredible player, and it would be difficult not to understand him.”
Finally, with respect to what Sergio Egea asks of them, Edu Cortina concluded by highlighting that “he wants us to be dynamic and get the ball wide quickly, while also bringing a balance defensively.”
