Real Oviedo took a step up in tempo and speed of ball circulation in tonight’s latest preseason friendly against CD Lugo in Foz. The Asturians had the better of the chances during the early stages. Los Azules’ attackers were unable to apply a finishing touch to a fine Saúl Berjón cross from the left, before Lolo’s shot from the edge of the box was kept out by the Galician side’s keeper. Obeng had the best opportunity prior to the break, but, despite beating the goalkeeper, his effort grazed the post.
After halftime, Egea made changes in all areas except in the defence. Lolo fired wide from a free kick, before Obeng equalised for Los Azules from a Christian Fernández assist. Real Oviedo went in search of a second and continued to create chances, but were unable to find a winner.
CD Lugo managed to claim the victory on penalties after their keeper kept out the fifth spot kick.
