Matchday 24 in LaLiga SmartBank took Real Oviedo to the Heliodoro Rodríguez López to face CD Tenerife. Ziganda's side found itself outplayed, with the home side enjoying a fine start to the match which left Los Azules up against the ropes right from the outset.
Los Azules began today's match with a starting eleven of Femenías; Carlos Isaac, David Costas, Dani Calvo, Mossa; Sangalli, Jimmy, Luismi, Viti; Obeng and Borja Bastón.
The home side emerged strongly for the match, striking twice in the opening fifteen minutes to leave the Asturians up against it. Despite the hammer blows, Ziganda's team continued to try, creating three good chances prior to the interval. The first of them saw Luismi head just wide from a free kick. Next, the midfielder would pick out Borja Bastón in a good position, but a home defender just got a foot in to send the ball narrowly wide of goal. Finally, a fine piece of play from Mossa inside the box would end with the left back shooting just wide.
Ziganda brought on Pombo, Borja Sánchez and Lucas at the break, but the match continued in a similar fashion. Real Oviedo looked to find a way back into the match, but little by little saw that Tenerife had luck going their way, as they pegged Los Carbayones back even further. Jirka was the fourth substitute introduced, just before Lucas had the best Real Oviedo chance of the half, forcing Soriano into a great save. Tenerife then extended the lead to 3-0, just before Joni Montiel came on in the final change. The hosts would add a fourth goal late on.
Real Oviedo will fly back to Asturias tomorrow. On Monday they will begin preparations for Saturday's fixture against Almería at the Carlos Tartiere.
