UP Langreo B and Real Oviedo Vetusta went head-to-head at the Nuevo Ganzábal this lunchtime, with the fixture forming part of Matchday 21 in Grupo II of the 3ªRFEF Division. Real Oviedo's B team would fall to a 2-1 defeat, with the match slipping away in the final moments.
Jaime Álvarez opted for a starting eleven made up of B.Hórreo; Eloy Ordóñez, René Pérez, Lucas Laso, Viti; Alex Cardero, Iván, Mangel; David Iglesias, Chus and Javi Cueto.
Langreo B started the match the stronger side, putting pressure on Los Azules as they tried to play the ball out from the back. The hosts would take the lead in the 8th minute. The side from the capital of Asturias looked to fight back and started to link up and play some of the football we have become used to seeing from them this season. René Pérez headed home an equaliser following a corner. Vetusta continued to dominate the ball, threatening the home goal. Jaime Álvarez's team had several clear chances prior to the interval, but lacked the finished touch necessary in order to take the lead.
The match changed after the break, developing into a hard-fought, physical affair. The B team were unable to put together their usual combination play. Jaime Álvarez brought on Yayo first, then Pablo and Isaac, and finally Nico and Joselu. Vetusta had a few further opportunities in the second half, but they were unable to convert. The match would be decided in the closing minutes, when a home forward capitalised on a defensive mistake to beat Berto Hórreo.
Los Azules will go back to work tomorrow, as they begin preparations for Sunday's fixture against CD Tuilla.
