Real Oviedo centre back Dani Calvo appeared in the Press Room at El Requexón this morning. Calvo, like the team, already has his mind set on the derby and the defender didn’t hesitate in pointing out that “we are going into it in sensational form. It is very difficult to string together five consecutive victories. We are very hungry and motivated for the derby. We are going to win this match.”

Regarding on-field matters and the travelling Oviedistas that will be in the stands at El Molinón, Dani Calvo expressed that “starting the match well is key. We put in a great performance last year and we are hoping to repeat it.”

“We’re very grateful. They couldn’t be there last year, and we are very grateful for the support that we’ll have this Saturday. The behaviour and support of the crowd is impeccable. We hope to give them something to celebrate this weekend,” stated the centre back after being asked about the travelling support.

Lastly, Dani Calvo discussed David Costas' absence through suspension and talked about his centre back partner Oier Luengo. “The absence of Costas is a shame. It’s a beautiful match to play in; something unique that I hadn’t experienced before. After the Zaragoza match David was annoyed because he didn’t want to miss it. When you are only one yellow off of the limit there is always the risk and the other day it happened to him, it’s a shame,” he said.

“Luengo is a defender that had good matches in preseason. Every time he has played he has done very well and I’m very happy for him. It’s difficult to be on the bench and then still do really well each time you get on the field. It’s an honour to play with him. He really deserves it, and we hope to put in a good performance together,” he concluded.
