Real Oviedo Vetusta returned to El Requexón today for the final match of the season, with Los Azules up against Bergantiños FC in Matchday 34 in Group 1 of Segunda RFEF. Despite it being a match with nothing at stake for either team, Vetusta wanted to get three points and see the season off in the best way possible. Jaime Álvarez opted for a starting 11 made up of Marco; Osky, Javi Moreno, Berlanga, Nacho Estrada; Álex Cadero, Joan Cruz, Yayo, Miguel Cuesta, Sesé; and Masca.

The match could not have started better for the B team. Before the match was even 10 minutes old, they were already 2-0 up. Miguel Cuesta in the 6th minute, and Álex Cardero in the 9th minute, scored two good goals to put Vetusta into a strong position. Jaime Álvarez’s team did not take its foot off the accelerator and would score a 3rd goal in the 20th minute. Sesé finished off a piece of great individual play perfectly, getting the better of the keeper to make the score 3-0. Los Azules had opportunities to further extend their advantage in the first half, although the score would remain the same going in for the interval.

Jaime Álvarez made his first substitution going into the second half, with Mario Fuente entering the fray in place of Osky. The pattern of the match did not change and Vetusta continued to dominate the possession and create the clearest opportunities. Marco Esteban, René Pérez, Omar and Nnoshiri also got minutes in the second half, although the match was effectively already over and passed by without too many opportunities for either team. The Galician team grabbed a consolation goal during the final stages.

This victory sees Vetusta end a great season just outside the playoff places and continue fighting right to the last moment. The results of the final matchday see Los Carbayones finish seventh in the table with 51 points.
