Real Oviedo goalkeeper, Nereo Champagne, today appeared in the Press Room at El Requexón.

Following last weekend’s match at the Estadio de Gran Canaria, the Argentinian commented that, “we got a good point. We didn’t win as we’d be hoping to do, but we showed what we wanted and what we’d been working on. The team showed it knows how to play with the ball and that it knows how to deal with not having the ball.”

Following three matches without defeat, the keeper believes that, “we are growing. We knew that, with the foundations we had and the new arrivals, the results would arrive.”

Asked about the importance of keeping cleaning sheets, Champagne commented that, “it’s always good when we can keep a clean sheet. We have to continue on this path. We have been growing and working hard. We prepare ourselves mentally and engage ourselves. The team feels comfortable defending set pieces.”

With respect to the team’s alternatives on the bench, Champagne highlighted that, “it had been obvious. We are a strong group, with different options. When someone else has to play, the team doesn’t become resentful. You saw that the other day. We competed and were strong.”

Finally, regarding the signing of Omar Ramos, the keeper stated that, “I know him. He’s an excellent person. He’ll add to the group, and on the pitch he has a lot to contribute to the team. He has the experience to take on the demands of this club. It’s good to have another teammate,” concluded the Argentinian.
