The Real Oviedo Head Coach, Juan Antonio Anquela, appeared in the Press Room at El Requexón ahead of the Zaragoza clash.

Talking about the fixture, the coach informed that, “we only have Alanís missing; the rest are available.” In addition, with respect to Ramon Folch’s recovery from injury, Anquela highlighted that, “you know what Ramon means to me. It’s important to have him back. There is competition, but we have to know how to manage it.”

Talking specifically about the Real Zaragoza encounter, the Coach admitted that, “they are very good. They are strong in all areas and know what they want. They played very well the other day and they are fighting for promotion. They do things with their head; not going crazy but working hard.”

Regarding the opening weeks of the season and whether he sees Real Oviedo as a promotion candidate, Juan Antonio Anquela argued that, “the only thing that I know is that this is very difficult. We’ve been playing at a very good level and that’s the important thing each week. The season has only just started and I’m sure that tomorrow will give an indication. Excitement comes and goes in football, but we believe in continuity and hard work. I’m happy that you can see the things we’re working on reflected on the pitch. There’s a good level in the squad and, with the help of the youth team lads, we will always have a competitive eleven. That’s our job.”

With respect to the importance of returning to the Tartiere and the change in Real Oviedo’s performances away from home, the Coach commented that, “home and away doesn’t matter in this division. All the teams are evenly matched and it’s decided on key moments. We have to find a way for those moments to fall our way. We are on the right track, but Zaragoza arrive tomorrow. We are working and have to turn that work into points.”

Asked about the preparations for this week, with a Copa del Rey match falling in the middle of it, Anquela explained that, “we will think about the cup once the Zaragoza match is finished. We can’t get distracted from what really matters.”

Regarding the fine work from the midfielders over the past few weeks, the Carbayón Coach commented that, “we’ve been good, but we need to remember that they have a powerful midfield too. We have to believe in the day-to-day work and what will give us results.”

Finally talking about the even nature of the division, Anquela admitted that, “the Segunda is fantastic; a very nice league. The level of the teams tells you everything. There are matches which were good ones in Primera a few years ago. This shows the evenness in Spanish football and the good players there are in our country,” he concluded.
