Real Oviedo had an afternoon to forget and were heavily punished at the Carlos Tartiere. Everything went right for Real Zaragoza, who were worthy winners of the three points.

The Asturians made one change to their starting eleven, bringing in Joselu for Toché. The away side began the match stronger, creating the early chances. Tejera had Los Azules’ only opportunity, firing wide of the far post. Real Zaragoza’s first goal arrived through Álvaro Vázquez shortly afterwards, in the fifteenth minute. Real Oviedo didn’t respond effectively. Their best chance fell to Yoel Bárcenas, who shot wide after receiving the ball from Saúl in the box.

Real Oviedo changed things after the break, and Ramon Folch entered the fray in place of Boateng in the midfield. However, just as Los Carbayones were enjoying their best spell of the match, the away side doubled their lead, with Verdasca making the score 2-0. Anquela shuffled his pack, bringing on Toché for Javi Muñoz and Aarón for Johannesson. Little changed in the match; Real Oviedo creating the chances, but Real Zaragoza scoring the goals. Mossa fired wide of the far post as he tried his luck from the edge of the box. However, Ramon Folch had the best chance, as he headed against the post from the corner, while Christian Fernández couldn’t quite convert the rebound. With Real Oviedo pushing on in attack, Zaragoza managed to add two further goals and seal a convincing win.

This was a bad evening for Real Oviedo, who were still treated with as much support and love as ever by their fans, with songs of support during the final minutes and after the match. The team will resume training tomorrow at 10:00 at El Requexón.
