Real Oviedo winger, Yoel Bárcenas, appeared in the Press Room at El Requexón, ahead of the first training session of the week for Juan Antonio Anquela’s men.

The Panamanian, one of the key men in Saturday’s game, said that he was “happy to score and be able to contribute to the team.” In addition, having scored twice, the winger highlighted that, “they were my first goals with the team, and I enjoyed them.”

After the first two competitive matches of the season, the winger stated that, “I’m still in the adaptation process and getting to know my teammates on a day-to-day basis. I am going to stay calm, try to continue in this way and help the team.”

Talking about the great excitement in Panama and his callup to the national team, the Carbayón player said that, “they’re very happy there. It’s an honour to represent your nation. I head over there on 3rd September, but at the moment I have to work hard and focus on Real Oviedo.”

Asked about his connection with Johannesson on the right wing, Bárcenas believes that, “Diegui is a great player and we understand each other well. We are linking up well.”

With respect to what had surprised him most about Real Oviedo, Bárcenas admitted that, “the organisation has caught my attention. It’s a great club. We are taking it step by step to achieve our objectives. I like the mentality and hunger of the group.”

Asked whether he had spoken to Juan Antonio Anquela following the Córdoba clash, the winger answered that, “I haven’t spoken to him, and he’s not going to say anything to me. I know that the important thing is the collective and not individuals.”

Finally, regarding the team’s fine performance at the Nuevo Arcángel, Bárcenas said that, “we played well against Extremadura, but the ball wouldn’t go in. This time we converted four out of five chances, which is good finishing. We have to improve, but there’s nothing better than doing it after a victory,” he concluded.
