The Press Room at the Carlos Tartiere played host to the official presentation of Oswaldo Alanís as a new Real Oviedo player this lunchtime.

The Mexican international was accompanied by César Martín, who welcomed him to the club, highlighting that, “he is a central defender who can also play at full back. He’s had a great career in football, and it’s an honour to have him here with us.” In addition, the Director for Institutional Relations at the football club stated that, “many things have had to fall into places for a player of Oswaldo’s ability to come to Real Oviedo. One of those was his desire to succeed with Real Oviedo, as well as the support of Arturo Elías, who has done everything he could to make this move possible. Oswaldo has a great desire and is now another member of the squad at the club. We can only reiterate our gratitude, and hope that he achieves great success at this club.”

For his part, the Mexican began by highlighting that, “I come here with a great commitment to add to the team and do well at this great club. I had an idea of how big the club was, and of its history and fanbase. Things worked out as they did, and I didn’t think twice. I’m here to add to the group. I’ve been in contact with the club for a long time. It’s now official and I am very happy.”

Talking about Real Oviedo and what made him choose the club, Alanís declared that, “everyone knows about the size of this club. I thought about the project and not the current division. I am here to add to the group and to achieve great things. The fact that Grupo Carso is behind this project was also a factor that I had in mind when signing for this great club. I want to work hard and do well. We have a great opportunity and we have to make the most of it.”

Asked about his availability for the next LaLiga match, Alanís commented that, “I have to get myself ready; I can’t give an exact date. When I’m ready, I’ll be the first to contribute, since I’ve come here committed to and excited by the project.”

Regarding the way in which negotiations came about, the centre back detailed how “Real Oviedo first contacted me more than a year and a half ago. They showed me their interest, and we kept talking. Now, we’ve been able to make it a reality.”

The Mexican, who followed a special training plan this morning, has now met his teammates at El Requexón. With respect to his first impressions, the defender commented that, “we met each other and talked. It was a very nice welcome and it’s good for my integration. We have a good team and competition will make the group even better. That’s how football is, and whoever contributes the most will make the most of their opportunity.”

Finally, with respect to the responsibility of being the first Mexican to represent Real Oviedo since Carso’s arrival at the club, and the role of Arturo Elías in his signing, Alanís highlighted that, “it’s great to be the first Mexican, but it’s another challenge in my career. I’ve been at big clubs and in the national team, and at the end of the day, this is another chance to give my all. I’m grateful to Arturo. He chose to have me here and I’m very grateful to him and committed to the project,” concluded Alanís.
