With the team returning to work, Real Oviedo forward, Toché, appeared in the Press Room this morning following the first training session of the year.

Feeling in a “perfect” physical state and hungry to “get going again”, Toché emphasised the fact that “we’re getting injured players back. We want to all be together and not have any injuries. We had a problematic year and I hope that we will all be available to carry the load (this year), because we are all needed.”

With respect to the break, the striker said that it was “good. We’re returning with a lot of hunger and hope following what was a bit of a tough end to the year. We hope that 2019 can be a great year for the club and for everyone.”

The team’s aim, according to the captain, “is to get back into the good part of the table and feel good. We have to produce our best level in Soria and try to start a good run which brings us points. We all know what the objective is: to take Real Oviedo to the top. Personally, 2018 wasn’t a good year, so it will be easy to improve on it. I want to get back on a good goal scoring run and feel like I’m playing better. I’ll work every day so that this year is good for me and for the team.”

With Ibra out injured, Toché explained that, “nobody likes to take their teammate’s place due to injury, because we know they’ll be having a bad time. When it’s my turn to play I’ll give 100% and do the best I can. It’s clear that a lot of players in the squad have gone out and tried to play just as well as their teammates. Injuries have taken their toll on us, but we’ve always faced it in a positive manner and it’s never been an excuse. You have to keep fighting every time you have an opportunity and hope that there are less injuries.”

Asked whether he is more worried about the lack of goals or the number being conceded, the striker commented that, “you face every game in a different way. The results are what counts and we have to try to concede fewer goals and be more clinical going forward.”

Finally, regarding the first match of the year against Numancia, Toché highlighted that, “it will be the first game of the year, on a cold Monday... We really want to bring the three points home. We really need them. We’re going there thinking about winning and I think it’ll be a good day to do so. I go into every match with every intention of scoring, but you have to keep going, and I’m really excited ahead of the new year. I hope I can get a lot during the second half of the season,” he concluded.
