Real Oviedo midfielder, Sergio Tejera, appeared in the Press Room this morning following the team’s training session at El Requexón.

Tejera began by admitting that the team was “annoyed because it was an important match and we got nothing”, before detailing what had been discussed in the changing room this morning. “We watched the video of the match, and the message from the Coach was to believe in ourselves, just as we believe in what we are doing. We need unity and we have it, and we are now thinking about the next match.”

Asked why it’s proving so difficult to string together positive results, the midfielder highlighted that, “it’s difficult to explain. In the first half they had barely any chances, except for when we made a couple of mistakes. In the second half we were more stretched and they caught us on the counter. We have to be more careful and more together, look at what we’ve done badly and put it right. This home match is a cup final for us.”

Regarding whether he thought the result was fair, Tejera commented that, “we could have won, drawn or lost. It was a bit crazy, but the truth is that if you’re not clinical in the opposition area and they are then you can lose.”

With respect to the possibility of changing formation, the Catalan issued a reminder that, “we’ve had good games with both systems and we are comfortable with both. We need to turn things around now. The important thing after a defeat is to get back up as soon as possible, be united, and make our fans and squad happy again.”

Regarding the next opponent, Osasuna, who arrive at the Tartiere on a good run of form, Tejera argued that “form doesn’t matter because they have a great team. We really want Saturday to get here now. We understand that it was a blow for the fans and there were a lot of people who travelled. This team isn’t going to give up, we are united and we are going to show up,” he concluded.
