Real Oviedo midfielder, Sergio Tejera, this morning appeared in the Press Room to analyse yesterday’s match, declaring that “we were annoyed not to get the home victory we so badly wanted and to not put what we’d worked on during the week into practice. The most positive thing about it was getting a point, because we didn’t meet our standards.”
The Catalan explained that “we tried to go for the win, but in doing so we didn’t focus on the defence, which helped their counters. We need to take more care with this. The Coach was angry and it’s normal, because on the pitch we didn’t reflect the work we’d done all week and everything we’d prepared.”
Asked for an evaluation of what had happened, the midfielder stated that this morning “we had a long chat and everyone spoke. We have to learn from our mistakes and change our home form. We have to keep working and believing in what we’re doing. Things are going well for us away from home, with a very clear playing style, and we have to carry it on at home. If we knew the answer to what happened then we’d fix it right away. The main thing is to keep working; that’s the key to this group. We’ve shown we know how to produce good matches. We have to keep battling.”
Finally, asked about the next match, against an always-difficult Alcorcón side, Tejera highlighted that, “it’s a tough ground to go to and many teams struggle there. They’re a robust, solid side, who have been together for many years. It’s a difficult match,” he concluded.
