FUNDOMA yesterday provided the backdrop for the renewal of the agreement between Real Oviedo and the mining foundation. The contract will allow Los Azules to continue to use the sports facilities and Clavería university residence for the period of 15 years.
The signing of the agreement was chaired by Belarmina Díaz Aguado, Managing Director of Mining in the Principality of Asturias, and Manuel Paredes, Acting President of Real Oviedo. It was attended by members of the Fundoma Trust, as well as representatives from Real Oviedo, who showed their happiness with the agreement. There is expected to be constant collaboration in the coming months to enable the implementation of activities in the facilities at FUNDOMA.
The signing of the document will allow the sports centre and 7-a-side pitch to continue to be used for sports activities by the teams of Real Oviedo Soccer School (Escuela Real Oviedo) and the Liga Genuine side. In addition, Residencia Clavería, which has a capacity for 45 people, will continue to be the base for youth-team players, as well as hosting international teams who are periodically invited by the club, as part of a visit which allows them to learn about the work methodology implemented in youth-team football by the club.
FUNDOMA is the former mining orphanage, created in 1929 with the objective of housing and providing education to the orphans of the minors, as well as catering for their physical, moral and intellectual needs and supporting their social integration. Its activities are diversifying more recently, and as a result it makes the most of its facilities located at the bottom of Monte Naranco, in Oviedo, to permit a project for change, which meets the club's policies on a social and educational level.
