Real Oviedo made two changes to the starting eleven from last Friday's match against Ponferradina, with Mossa and Borja Sánchez coming into the side.  Cuco Ziganda's team went into the game aware of the importance of picking up points against a side very close to them in the table.
Real Oviedo grew into the match during the early stages, and began to threaten the visitors' net, with chances for Bárcenas, Tejera and Borja. Los Azules gradually began to feel more comfortable and create even better opportunities.  A wide free kick from Tejera saw Luismi get ahead of the opponent and open the scoring for the hosts.  Shortly afterwards, Dépor had the chance to equalise from the penalty spot, but Lunin guessed correctly to deny Colak's spot kick.  Towards the end of the half Tejera struck the post from another opening, before Yoel Bárcenas did manage to double the lead.  The Panamanian curled home a fine free kick from the edge of the box.  However, Deportivo cut the lead from the next passage of play, and the teams went in for halftime with the score 2-1.
Things continued in the same vein after the interval, with Real Oviedo looking for combination play to threaten the visitors, but they were unable to convert any of the various chances they had.  The Galicians equalised from a corner in the 58th minute. Real Oviedo continued to push on after this setback.  Borja's fine strike from outside the box was denied by a great save by Dani Giménez.  Ziganda turned to the bench to freshen the team up, bringing on Rodri and Ibra, and then Jimmy, who tried to pick out the final ball to the strikers.  Obeng came on in added time to try to make the most of any final opportunity.
Ziganda's side will be back in work tomorrow, as they begin to prepare for Monday's clash against Sporting de Gijón.
