Real Oviedo Head Coach Juan Antonio Anquela appeared in a press conference this morning, after the penultimate training session of the week.
Asked first about the state of his players, namely Tejera, the Jaén-born coach downplayed the situation, explaining that “he had a knock, so we’ve got to be cautious. He’s in my thinking, but we will see tomorrow.”
This Saturday, the Asturian side travels to face the league leader, and Anquela described Albacete as a team that “is doing things well, with personality and quality. They are up there because they are the best. They are doing things right in attack and defend very well. They are a great team.”
Regarding his team, the Real Oviedo coach stated “we are getting better, but we know that football is fleeting. Every week we have a new test and we are prepared, with respect and humility, to compete against anyone. This is a question of results and of belief. At the beginning we were playing the ball long and giving it away, and that’s where we would concede. Now we have got better and on Saturday we have a difficult test where we can show that.”
When asked about the Albacete’s unbeaten home run, Anquela said that “we are going to try to win (at the Carlos Belmonte). With humility and respect, I think that we are prepared to compete against anyone.”
Asked whether he had picked his starting eleven yet, the Real Oviedo coach explained that “I have it clear. We know what we have to do, but things don’t always turn out the way that you want them to. They have a great attack, but that’s not all. They have many other strengths.”
Talking about the league table, and the position that the team is in, despite having won six of the last seven, Anquela concluded by saying that “we gave away an advantage at the start of the season by losing matches that we should not have lost, but now we are in good form and we have to keep going. The keys to facing what’s coming are calmness and tranquility. This is going to be very difficult and we have to work for it. If we go on a bad run, it is going to costly us dearly. The team is aware that each week is its own story. Each week we have to reset and see what the division is demanding of us.”
