A Point for the Team

Real Oviedo secured a goalless draw away at the league leaders, hitting the woodwork twice in the process

Real Oviedo went to the league leader's ground with great humility and respect, but also with a desire to win. The two changes to the starting eleven saw the returns of Johannesson and Mossa, but the same formation once more. The team improved as the minutes ticked by.

The first half began with several chances for the hosts, but also with a solid defensive display from the Asturians, with Champagne and the away backline doing their jobs well. Ramon Folch had the first shot for the visitors, volleying into Nadal's hands from the edge of the box. Bárcenas hit a fine strike off the crossbar, before Champagne denied the hosts once more. Bárcenas had the best chance five minutes before the interval. Johannesson's great cross came in from the right, but the winger was unable to head home from inside the six-yard box.

Real Oviedo had their best spell of the match at the start of the second half and they grew stronger and stronger, culminating in Alanís heading against the post from a corner kick. Ibra and Omar Ramos came on and Nadal once more had to come to his side's rescue, pushing another effort wide for a corner. Viti entered the fray, and Real Oviedo looked to withstand the last five minutes as Albacete pushed forwards. The home side were unable to claim any greater prize than a draw.

The team will return to Oviedo by coach. The next training session will be at 17:00 on Tuesday, at El Requexón.
