This match was played at the Wanda, but blue was the dominant colour. However, unfortunately the second massive away trip of the season for the Real Oviedo fans did not have a happy ending.

Anquela opted for the 4-3-3 formation seen in matches earlier in the season, making changes up front and bringing Javi Muñoz back into the midfield. Real Oviedo had the better chances during the opening half
hour. First Joselu tried his luck, before Aarón saw two attempts stifled. Saúl had the best chance on the brink of halftime but he fired wide. Anquela’s side were not troubled too much during the first 45 minutes, and had joy putting their opponent under pressure as they tried to bring the ball out from the back.

Rayo Majadahonda’s play improved after the break and Real Oviedo had to do more work in defence than in attack. The end-to-end nature of the match did not benefit Anquela’s men. Aarón was denied by the home keeper once more. Crosses couldn’t find their target, but, despite everything, it seemed the team would take a point from the Wanda. However, Rayo managed to nick a goal from a set piece in added time to give the victory to the Madrid side. The team went home empty-handed and disappointed not to have been able to make the fans happy.

The team will now return to Oviedo, before returning to training at 10:30 on Tuesday at El Requexón.
