On a day like today, April 21, in the year 1926, Real Oviedo trained for the first time, less than a month after the club was founded.

The training session was held at the Vetusta stadium, a venue that had belonged to the Real Stadium Club Ovetense until this entity merged with the Real Club Deportivo de Oviedo to form Real Oviedo.

That first training session took place without a coach, as the club had not yet hired one. The first coach of the club, Frederick Pentland, would be hired in early June of that year.

In the absence of a coach, the initial training sessions were organized by two directors, Francisco Martínez and Francisco Arias de Velasco. Oscar, César, Trucha, Comas, Mariscal, Calichi, Justo, Cubano, Mieres, Duarte, Esparza, and Sancho were some of the players who trained on that first day.

Alongside them, Laureano, Alfonso, Emilio Menéndez, Paladini, Eulogio, Matías, Barril, Tiesu II, Leto, Pepín, Servando, Bujanda, Muslera, Paulino Álvarez, Obdulio Velasco, and Avilesu also trained.

In total, 28 footballers, 28 names that went down in history for participating in that first training session. After a week and a half of preparatory sessions, Real Oviedo would play its first matches, both friendlies, on May 1 and 2, against Arenas de Guecho at the Vetusta stadium.
