Real Oviedo has reached an agreement with David Fernández for the Catalan to become the new sporting director of the capital of the Principality's entity, signing a contract that will bind him to the Club until June 30, 2028.
David Fernández Fernández, 40 years old, was born on July 22, 1985, in Badalona. His career began in the youth academy of Espanyol, an entity where he completed much of his professional training. For fifteen years, he held various roles within the "perico" youth system, from coaching lower categories to coordinating, participating in the training and recruitment processes of numerous players who later reached professional football.
This work led to his incorporation into Real Madrid in 2017. For four seasons, he was part of the structure of La Fábrica, where he worked on tasks related to the detection and monitoring of young talents.
After his time at Valdebebas, he joined FC Barcelona under Mateu Alemany's leadership following a brief stint in the youth academy of Sporting de Gijón. At the "blaugrana" club, he was part of the technical secretariat during the last seasons, performing tasks related to scouting and player monitoring and remaining within the sports structure after Alemany's departure.
Now, from the Carlos Tartiere, David Fernández begins a new professional chapter as the head of the sporting direction of Real Oviedo, with the responsibility of leading the sports planning of the "blue" entity.
