On a day like today, July 7, in the year 1974, coach Vicente Miera joined Real Oviedo for the first time, a team he would manage for four seasons, spread across two successful periods.
Vicente Miera Campos, born in Nueva Montaña (Santander) on May 10, 1940, arrived at Real Oviedo from UP Langreo, a team where he made a name for himself as a promising coach.
In his first season with Real Oviedo, the 1974-75 campaign, he achieved the team's promotion to the First Division. In 1987, he returned to the position of head coach of Real Oviedo, and that season he once again led the team to ascend to the top tier of Spanish football.
During his four seasons with Real Oviedo, from 1974 to 1976 and from 1987 to 1989, Miera managed the team in 170 official matches, making him the coach with the most games in charge of the carbayón team.
