Matheus Signs for Real Oviedo

The striker joins on loan from Orlando City, bringing pace and hard work to the Carbayón attack

Real Oviedo has reached an agreement with Orlando City for forward Matheus Aiás to join the club on a loan deal. The agreement will run until 30th June 2022, with the option to make the move permanent at the end of the loan.
Matheus Aiás Barrozo Rodrigues is 24 years old and was born on 30th December 1996 in Palmares Paulista, Brazil. Having come through in Brazilian football, the attacker joined Watford at the age of 18, before joining Granada CF on loan to strengthen their B team. Lorca FC, CF Fuenlabrada, and Valencia Mestalla were his next stops in Spanish football, before he spent two years at CD Mirandés. Matheus' second season at Mirandés saw him score 6 goals in LaLiga, as well as another 6 in the Copa del Rey, being one of the stars of that year's cup. The Brazilian joined Orlando City for the 2020/21 season, from whom he now joins Real Oviedo.
The Brazilian was a target for several teams in the division in this transfer window. He is a quick, lively player inside the box, who will bring hard work to Ziganda's side.

Matheus Aiás will now complete a medical at Clínica Asturias, before being officially presented as a new Real Oviedo player in the coming days. The player will make no comment until the time of his official presentation.
