The coach of Real Oviedo, Luis Carrión, appeared in the press room after the heavy defeat against Sevilla FC (4-0) and did not hide his disappointment with the team's performance, describing the match as "very bad from the beginning."
The blue coach acknowledged the poor scoring streak, although he wanted to differentiate the match at Sánchez-Pizjuán from other recent games. "We haven't scored for a while, yes, but today's game is very different from other days. It was a very bad match from the beginning," he explained.
Carrión was especially critical of the performance and took responsibility after a match "with little to highlight." "We came from a good game against a rival like Mallorca, which is more or less like Sevilla, and from the beginning, it was clear we weren't there. Although we had a good stretch from 1-0 to the uncalled penalty, today we were not a competitive team," he pointed out.
The Oviedo coach was clear in his message to the fans: "It's a day to apologize a lot. Today we were not competitive, and it was an embarrassing match; we can only apologize."
"I think we all saw that we deserved to win against Mallorca. I understand that if you don't get results, everything is criticized, but last week we showed that we are not so far from winning. I hold on to my work, my players, the club, and the fans," he stated.
Asked if he sees the team capable of turning the situation around, the coach declared that "some good games are not so far away. Talking about today is complicated because it was very bad, but we haven't played many games like this. I see myself capable of turning it around."
Finally, Carrión concluded by saying, "I am not the one who makes the decisions. The atmosphere at the Tartiere has been very good, but it's normal for people to be very angry. Winning a game doesn't fall from the sky; we have to work and improve a lot. We leave ashamed, and I apologize," he concluded.
