Real Oviedo, through its Foundation, is participating for the second consecutive year in the solidarity campaign ‘You give me life’, an initiative aimed at raising awareness in Asturian society about the importance of blood donation.
The campaign will take place from Friday, December 19 to Sunday, December 21 in Oviedo and Gijón, with fixed donation points and mobile units located in usual spots of both clubs: Plaza de América, in Oviedo, and Plaza del Marqués, in Gijón.
The campaign is promoted by the Community Blood and Tissue Center of Asturias, the Federation of Blood Donors of the Principality of Asturias, and the Health Department of the Principality, and also has the collaboration of the Real Oviedo Foundation and the Real Sporting Foundation.
The presentation event took place this morning and was attended by Juan Cofiño González, president of the General Assembly of the Principality of Asturias; Concepción Saavedra Rielo, Health Minister of the Principality of Asturias; Joaquín Alonso, head of Institutional Relations of Real Sporting; César Martín Villar, director of the Real Oviedo Foundation and head of Institutional Relations; and María Teresa Díaz Campomanes, managing director of the Community Blood and Tissue Center of Asturias.
The progressive aging of the Asturian population makes it increasingly difficult to ensure an adequate blood supply to the region's hospitals, a reality that has motivated Real Oviedo to strengthen its commitment to this solidarity cause.
In this regard, César Martín encouraged “our people to join and show once again that we are very supportive. Last year expectations were exceeded, and this year we hope for the same. Football stirs passions, and it is important that it also stirs responsibilities.”
Special Draws
The collection of donations will begin on Friday, December 19 at the fixed points in Oviedo (c/Emilio Rodríguez Vigil s/n from 8:00 AM to 9:00 PM) and Gijón (c/Donato Argüelles, Puerta de la Villa 1st Floor from 8:00 AM to 9:00 PM), and will continue on Saturday, December 20 and Sunday, December 21 at the mobile units located in Plaza de América, in Oviedo, and Plaza del Marqués, in Gijón. On Saturday, December 20, from 10:00 AM to 2:30 PM and from 4:30 PM to 8:30 PM, and on Sunday, December 21, from 10:00 AM to 2:30 PM.
As a token of appreciation, all individuals who make a donation will receive a scarf of their preferred team, which includes the campaign slogan and the message ‘Become a blood donor.’ Additionally, donors will have the chance to participate in the draw for a VIP Experience and a jersey signed by the Real Oviedo team.
Real Oviedo and its Foundation encourage all of Asturian society to participate in this solidarity initiative, reminding everyone that, in moments like this, colors do not matter: donating blood is giving life.
