Real Oviedo defender, Javi Hernández, today appeared in the Press Room at El Requexón.

The defender, who missed the last match through suspension, admitted that, “I am hungry to come back in. The weeks are long when you can’t play. I’m ready. I didn’t expect the second yellow card. I didn’t go in with any bad intentions.”

Asked for his opinion on the team’s performance last weekend in Granada, the centre back commented that, “we started very well and competed with the league leader. We played well, but they got a chance and they took it.”

With respect to the feeling around the team, Javi stated that, “we want to turn a corner. We want to turn the situation around. The Coach is working and driving intensity into us. We want Saturday to get here now.”

With Mossa absent this weekend, Javi Hernández could be a starter against Málaga. He highlighted that, “it’s an opportunity and we’ll see what happens. I like playing, and I don’t care whether it’s at full back or at centre back.”

Ahead of Saturday’s match at the Tartiere, Javi said that, “a strong opponent is visiting us this weekend. They’re all strong in this division, but Málaga are up there and they’re playing well. It’s clear to see. They have a strong, talented team. We have to be at 100%. We are always motivated at home with our fans behind us. We have to give everything.”

Regarding Alanís’ words yesterday in the Press Room, in which he made reference to calling on the squad’s experience, the centre back stated that, “the people who have been here for longer are calling on their experience. We must be united, which we are, and go for the victory.”

Finally, with respect to the year which is now drawing to an close, Javi Hernández highlighted that, “things have gone well. We hope to finish the year in the best way possible. For Christmas, I will be asking for hard work and to finish as high up the table as possible,” he concluded.
