Los Campos de Sport del Sardinero hosted the latest fixture in Grupo II of the Segunda B this evening, and Real Oviedo Vetusta added a hard-fought point against the league leaders to their tally.
The two teams alternated control of the first half. Real Oviedo Vetusta emerged very strongly for the match; pressing heavily after losing the ball, with high lines, and making the most of their mobility in attack to look for gaps in the home defence. From one of these chances, in the 7th minute, Sandoval swung a cross in to the six-yard box from the wing, and Ernesto nudged the ball home. The hosts swiftly responded, however, as they equalised minutes later. Both teams had further chances in the first half as well as both enjoying spells of domination of the play. Things stayed the same after the break. Real Oviedo Vetusta continued to try tofind the way through, with several chances for Borja, Ernesto and Rober. The B team, who were very strong in defensive areas, picked up another point and will end the year in a playoff place.
Javi Rozada’s side now begin their Christmas holidays. They will return to training on 31st December, as they begin to prepare for the match against Durango.
