Guillermo Almada appeared this Friday before the media in the press room of El Requexón, ahead of the match that Real Oviedo will play this Saturday against Osasuna. The blue coach analyzed the team's current form, the squad's condition, and the demands of the opponent, emphasizing the importance of competing at the highest level.
The Oviedo coach highlighted the group's good attitude during the week of training, despite the difficulties: “Beyond some injuries and suspensions, the team has trained very well. We continue to grow and fully trust in the work and the players.”
Regarding the team's performance, Almada stressed the need to take a step forward in effectiveness: “We have created enough chances to win in previous matches, but we have lacked decisiveness. This is a key aspect in modern football and something we need to improve. We always aim to play better than the opponent because that gives you more chances to win.”
The coach also referred to the context of the transfer market and the uncertainty it generates in the locker room: “It is a normal situation in football. We know it can create unease, but we have to adapt and compete in the best possible way, as all teams do.”
Regarding the squad's condition, Almada explained that the coaching staff is managing various physical issues: “Carmo is suspended, Bailly is unlikely to make it, and we are taking care of both David and Dani due to fatigue. Even so, we trust the players who are waiting for their opportunity and the work we have been doing.”
Concerning sports planning, the coach was clear: “If any reinforcement arrives, it has to be someone who gives us a leap in quality. We are satisfied with the forwards we have and are analyzing options in other positions, especially on the wings and in the offensive zone.”
Regarding the opponent, Almada highlighted Osasuna's strengths: “They are a very physically strong team, solid, with good aerial play and quick transitions. They will demand a lot of effort, concentration, and personality from us. If we want to win, we have to demonstrate on the field the progress we have made.”
Finally, the blue coach emphasized the mentality with which the team approaches the match: “For us, every game is a final. In the situation we are in, we cannot relax. We have to focus solely on the match, compete at the highest level, and approach it as the most important game of the year.”
