I didn't deserve it

Tough defeat for Oviedo in Pamplona, controversial refereeing and a penalty not awarded at 2-2 that nobody understands.

The team from the capital of the Principality faced Osasuna this afternoon at El Sadar with two changes in the starting lineup compared to the match against Betis at Carlos Tartiere. Luengo replaced the suspended Carmo, and Viñas entered the attack in place of Forés.

The blue team, wearing their third kit today, had a chance right at the start. A throw-in led to a tussle by Viñas, who passed back to Reina on the byline, but the Uruguayan couldn't connect clearly with the shot, and the ball went wide.

The Navarrese team shook off Oviedo's initial pressure and had a good chance with a shot from Víctor Muñoz. Aarón Escandell confidently saved the shot from the player who would become the protagonist of the match in its final moments.

The first goal for the Carbayones came from a set piece. A short corner was taken to Hassan, who crossed it perfectly, and Fede Viñas delivered a spectacular header. The striker timed it perfectly, and his header went to the near post, making Sergio Herrera's dive futile in the 39th minute.

Joy is always short-lived in the house of the poor. From a possible penalty on Ilyas that ended in a disallowed goal due to Budimir's handball, to the fateful 45th minute. Budimir equalized with a header after slightly unbalancing Luengo. As happened last week, in that case with Carmo, the referee did not consider the contact sufficient to call a foul.

Both teams went into halftime tied in an all-or-nothing match that continued in the same vein after the restart. Oviedo had chances but failed to capitalize, and the Navarrese team also had clear opportunities until, in the 67th minute, once again from a set piece, the Carbayón side managed to find the net. Reina, who had a clear chance in the 54th minute, turned in the small area to score, this time successfully, with a half-turn, the second goal for Real Oviedo.

Again, just seven minutes later, Budimir scored his second goal in the 74th minute, heading in unmarked after a poorly defended play and cross by Almada's team.

Oviedo did not give up and saw in the 81st minute how, inexplicably, referee Alejandro Quintero González went to VAR and ultimately decided not to award a clear penalty for a handball by Boyomo, who intercepted a pass from Fede Viñas. The blue team's misfortunes did not end there. In the 91st minute, a series of unfortunate rebounds left the ball at Víctor Muñoz's feet, and with a powerful shot, he sent El Sadar into a frenzy.

The last chance for Real Oviedo came after a direct red card to Catena for a very harsh tackle. The team, which had taken the lead twice in Pamplona, ended up executing the free kick poorly and was condemned to an undeserved defeat due to their own and others' mistakes.
