Real Oviedo has come to an agreement to sign defender Juan Daniel Forlín, a contract for the next two seasons.
The 29-year-old player was born on 10th January 1988 in Santa Fé, Argentina. He made his debut aged 19 for Boca Juniors, where he had come through the youth academy. After a year’s loan at Real Madrid B, Forlín returned to Argentina to try to win a place in the first team squad at Boca Juniors, where he would win two competitions; the Recopa Sudamericana and the Campeonato Apertura. After playing 33 matches during the 2009 season, he moved to RCD Espanyol, where he was managed by Pochettino. In 2013, he moved on to the Qatari side Al-Rayyan for a fee of 2 million euros. He returned to Boca Juniors on loan for a season, before going back to Qatar until 2015, when he moved to Querétaro in Mexico. There, he became a Mexican Cup winner, and he signs for Real Oviedo from Querétaro.
In addition, Forlín was called up to Argentina’s national team by Diego Maradona in 2009, and has played a total of 249 professional matches during his career.
Forlín will compete in the Spanish second division for the first time having joined Real Oviedo, having previously played in the Copa del Rey, Copa de la Liga, Copa Argentina, Copa México, Copa Libertadores, Copa Sudamericana and the Concacaf Champions League, as well as the first divisions in Argentina, Mexico, and Spain. He is known for his well-rounded, complete game. Forlín is good in all areas, from aerial play to pace and bringing the ball out from the back, as well as boasting huge experience and a fine track record.
The player will join training immediately, having passed medical tests at Clínica Asturias. He will work under the orders of Juan Antonio Anquela in this afternoon’s training session, ready to be called upon by the coach for the upcoming fixtures.
